Trend Update: Emerald Green

Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2013, Emerald Green, is showing up everywhere. My favorite way to use it in home decor is sparingly and paired with gray, black or white.

Just released this week by Habitually Chic blogger Heather Clawson, Creativity at Work features some of today’s creative greats such as Bunny Williams, Jonathan Adler and Jenna Lyons in their personal workspaces. It has been selected by W magazine as one of the best new art and fashion books for the fall 2012.

I recently attended Heather’s book signing at Design Legacy’s new showroom in High Point and got an advance copy.

Love the chic orange fabric cover! It’s now the favorite on my family room coffee table.

Favorite Finds from High Point

Just back from the furniture market, and I found some great pieces to share with you. As predicted, orange was a major player in furniture, artwork and accessories.

Love the updated take on an occasional chair in kumquat slubby linen. Equestrian details as shown on this pillow were also popular.

Paired with a traditional desk, the curvy silhouette of this linen upholstered chair would give a home office a chic, modern edge. The velvet panel down the center of the chair can be customized in a variety of colors.

Lucite was seen everywhere. Tara Shaw picked up on the trend with her super stylish martini table. What a fun way to add glamour to a living room, foyer or bedroom.

This charming brown leather pouf with orange top stitching could be become a family room favorite providing extra seating or tucked under a console. And at the end of the day, it’s the perfect place to prop those tired tootsies!

Ann

High Point Market Bound

Style spotters predict that 2013 spring fashions will inspire design trends for the home. Whether horizontal or vertical, stripes were all over the Ready To Wear runways. Also making frequent appearances were orange, leather and florals. We’ll see if these trends capture the world of home furnishings as we head off to market!

Great Proportions

Having just returned from the Atlanta market, clients are always asking, “What’s new for 2010?”  The best answer is great proportions!

The chunky white table decorated with a single large bowl, high back chair, and oversized lantern deliver a big impact in this entry hall.

A grouping of six prints reach from the bench to the ceiling and repeat the grand scale of the painting over the foyer’s table.

A dramatic mirror reflects light and contrasts beautifully with the dark round table centered in this entry.

Try playing around with scale in your home.  A few, well-placed large accessories can really bring new life to your rooms!
